Jennifer Kesler is the website developer who founded The Hathor Legacy in 2005 to talk about the portrayals of women in film and TV. Hathor quickly expanded into a group author site, and the focus widened to include sub-sites on women in books and print media and feminism in general. In 2006, Kesler started Blind Privilege to discuss privilege issues that went beyond Hathor’s scope. She also writes about various topics on her LiveJournal.
Kesler is best known for her work with The Hathor Legacy, which came about due to her own history as a young screenwriter who quit the film industry upon concluding there was no way she could fix the sexist, racist, young-white-straight-male centric industry from within, but maybe she could work from outside the system and help those within it who shared her values.
